6 Natural Ways to Stimulate Beard Growth

Facial hair adds sophistication to the  shape of your face, but only if it is well-groomed. With so many methods of facial hair growth available today, it is important to know how to effectively grow facial hair in order to get a desirable full beard. A well-groomed beard makes all the difference between a scruffy patch or a full and well-kept beard on your face.

According to  Healthline, beard hair growth is determined by the  enzyme 5-alpha reductase. This enzyme turns your body’s natural stores of testosterone into another hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT then attaches to receptors on each follicle of your beard hair to make it grow. But this doesn’t mean that more testosterone means more beard hair. Beard hair growth is actually more determined by how sensitive your follicles are to DHT. And this is primarily based on your genes.

No supplement or artificial testosterone intake has been shown to promote the growth of beard hair or any other body hair, for that matter. Additionally, taking DHT can slow the growth of your hair. If you're wondering how to stimulate facial growth, or if you just want to know if there are any natural ways to do so, the answer is yes.

    #1. Vitamins, Minerals, and Nutrients

Your diet can have a major impact on your facial hair growth. You should be aware of some of the foods that can encourage the development of a strong, healthy, and thick beard.  Foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients help you grow your facial hair faster and easier.

PROTEIN is the most important nutrient for facial hair growth. It stimulates hair follicle growth by increasing the amount of testosterone in the body, which can then be converted into DHT, the hormone that helps stimulate hair growth. There is a good chance that your beard will become dry and brittle and be more prone to breaking if you do not consume enough protein. Inadequate protein intake can also have a negative impact on the thickness and fullness of your beard so it is advised to eat protein-rich foods like lean meats, poultry, fish and seafood, eggs, dairy products, nuts (including nut pastes), and seeds, legumes and beans, and more.

ZINC aids in boosting hair follicle strength, promoting the beard's organic growth. Zinc is involved in the synthesis of collagen and elastin, which are structural proteins that help to create the structure of hair follicles. This mineral may also benefit your skin, fingernails, and scalp. If you don't get enough zinc in your diet,  your body may have a harder time breaking down nutrients and proteins that help produce facial hair. The best source of zinc is oysters, but it's also plentiful in red meat and poultry. Other good sources are beans, nuts, crab, lobster, whole grains, breakfast cereals, and dairy products.

BIOTIN is an essential B vitamin that helps turn food into energy and supports the production of keratin, the main protein found in hair, skin, and nails. So make sure to incorporate foods high in biotin into your diet as well. This vitamin can encourage the body to produce DHT, which is essential for a healthy beard. It is extremely likely that you will experience significant hair loss if your biotin levels are low. This nutrient is also crucial for the healthy and normal production of thyroid hormones. Foods that contain the most biotin include organ meats, eggs, fish, meat, seeds, nuts, and certain vegetables (such as sweet potatoes).

VITAMIN B5 also called pantothenic acid makes it easier for the body to use fats and proteins, the building blocks of healthy hair. Vitamin B5 has also been reported to reduce stress, which tends to inhibit hair growth. Deficiency in B-5 can result in hair loss and premature graying, whilst a healthy dose promotes circulation within your hair follicles. Fish, chicken, lean red meat, milk, avocados, whole grains, and egg yolks are some foods rich in Vitamin B5.

VITAMIN C offers defense against free radical damage to your hair because it is an antioxidant. Vitamin C can help your body get rid of these harmful free radicals that could have a negative impact on the development of your facial hair. Additionally, it carries out other tasks like collagen production and iron processing and absorption, both of which are crucial for the development of facial hair. Citrus (oranges, kiwi, lemon, grapefruit, etc.), bell peppers, strawberries, tomatoes, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.), and white potatoes are some foods rich in Vitamin C.

VITAMIN E will help your beard grow as nicely as possible. Like vitamin C, this particular vitamin is a well-known antioxidant that shields your cells and eliminates dangerous free radicals. In addition, it promotes hair growth. Making foods high in it a part of your diet is incredibly beneficial because it can promote the growth of new facial hair. Wheat germ oil, sunflower, safflower, soybean oil, sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, peanut butter, beet greens, collard greens, spinach, pumpkin, and red bell pepper are some foods rich in Vitamin E.

    #2. Wash and Moisturize

Wash and moisturize your beard regularly. A good  beard wash is a must for keeping your facial hair healthy and looking great. You should also use a  moisturizer to keep it looking soft, shiny, and well hydrated. If you want to take things further, try using an oil or balm for extra nourishment!

    #3. Exercise

Exercise is another great way to stimulate facial growth. While it's true that you can't exercise your face, you can definitely feel the effects of exercise on your body. Studies have shown that people who exercise regularly tend to have higher testosterone levels and are more likely to have a better hairline and thicker facial hair. Exercise also has an effect on skin health—exercising increases blood flow and promotes collagen production in the body, which helps improve skin elasticity and hydration levels. It also improves muscle tone so that those who do not work out may see an increase in muscle mass along with their beard growth!

    #4. Get Enough Sleep

It's important to get enough sleep. You know this, but it bears repeating: Sleep is the best thing for your health, including beard growth! When you're well-rested and feeling rested, your body will be able to heal itself from stress. It's also a great way to reduce inflammation in the face (and elsewhere). According to Healthline, The testosterone in your system is primarily released during sleep. Not getting enough rest, sleep apnea, and fragmented sleep can all adversely affect this process. A small study found that daily sleep restriction lowered testosterone levels in healthy young men.

    #5. Stop Smoking

Smoking is a bad habit, and it can cause your skin to become dry and flaky. It also causes you to lose hair, which makes it harder for facial growth to occur.  Stopping smoking will help your hair health and help restore the natural healthy growth cycle. With increased blood flow to the hair follicles and nutrients, hair is likely to be thicker and more hydrated. Smoking also ages your face faster by causing wrinkles, age spots, and even cancer! So if you want healthy skin that’s not covered in wrinkles or other unsightly marks from smoking then quitting smoking will help stimulate facial growth naturally!

    #6. Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a handheld device with needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. This stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, which helps increase elasticity. Microneedling is said to promote healthier hair and increase blood flow to your follicles, which will aid in promoting hair growth. According to a 2013 study, using minoxidil (Rogaine) along with microneedling can help lessen male pattern baldness in about 12 weeks. It might also promote beard growth. Microneedling treatments typically last about ten minutes each time you get them done—which means that if you have more than one session every few weeks over six months or so (as many people do), then this could be worth considering as an additional option for stimulating facial growth!

There are natural things you can do to improve your beard growth.

You can improve your beard growth by doing the things that are natural to you. There is no one-size-fits-all solution, but a combination of factors and treatments should help you out. If none of these things work for you, then maybe it’s time for a professional consultation with an aesthetician who can help guide you through what will work for your facial hair.
